Matt Buzzell, Esq.

Matt Buzzell grew up in a construction world: his father owned Buzzell Electric, the last union electric shop in San Francisco. Matt has a background in both construction and in workers’ compensation and shares the unique workers’ comp issues that face construction firms and those who work with them.
Matt is a national trial counsel for California Workers’ Compensation Defense. He has represented employers and insurance carriers for more than eight years and is the founder of the Law Offices of Matthew J. Buzzell, III, established in 2007. He serves as general counsel for the San Francisco Institute for Hyperbaric Medicine and is a member of their board of directors.
Matt’s experience includes more than 100 trials before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and depositions of applicants and physicians on behalf of employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators.
Matt is a member of the California Bar Association, Bar Association of San Francisco, San Francisco Barristers Club and American Bar Association. He provides training on workers’ compensation and is a frequent speaker and presenter on workers’ compensation related legal issues. Matt graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a B.S. in Business Administration, and earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific.
